Rockin’ Out with Guitar Hero III

Guitar HeroThe Shepherd and I have caught the Guitar Hero virus. Sadly I think it might consume the Shepherd. He has Guitar Hero III for the Wii and I picked up the Aerosmith editon (not a big fan of them, but the guitar looks really cool).

Shepherd and I were playing 2 player co-op and ran through it on easy mode. If was a furious exchange of guitar playing. With most songs finished in the upper 90% rate of notes hit. I think we should think about starting a band or something. We could bring our plasitc guitars and play in front of packed stadiums.

For reasons neither of us can understand, the Shepherd must’ve used the phrase “rocked out” way too many times. Though we did truly rock out.

Joomla! 1.5

JoomlaBeen messing around a bit recently with Joomla! as a CMS (content management system) solution.  I’ve very much impressed thus far, this is a great CMS solution.  Especially for medium to large sites.

The whole section, category, article form or organization took a little bit to adjust to.  But once you make sense of that, this really makes a lot of sense.  Plus the admin portion has a polish to it that you don’t see on many commercial CMS solutions, let a lone an open source one.  I think that most content managers would feel very comfortable working with articles to manage the content on a site.

Think I’m good with creating a custom template.  Now I’m going to have to try and create my own custom component or extension.

Battalion Wars 2

Battalion Wars 2Just finished up playing through the campaign mode of Battalion Wars 2 for the Wii.  It’s a war strategy game with a fun setting.  Wasn’t exactly sure that war could be made to be fun, but they developers pulled it off.  I’ve always been a big fan of the strategy games.

While this game is better than the the previous installment on the GameCube, it didn’t necessarily break any new ground.  Though that’s not necessarily a bad thing, as the whole gameplay is very polished.  Easy for a beginner to pick up, while also being challenging enough for a more seasoned gamer.

The various campaigns which have you playing from the various sides helps keep the game fresh.  It’s cool to play from the bad guys (Xylvanians) point of view.  Overall a very cool game.  I haven’t had a chance to play the online portions of the game yet, so I’ll have to give that a shot when I get some free time.

Currently 3.5/5 Stars.
