Uncle Rich

Me and Uncle Rich

Sadly my Uncle Richard passed away on May 16.  He was always the favorite of my brothers and I.  While not technically our uncle we always considered him one and I think that sums up just how much he meant to us. He was one the most generous individuals I had ever known and would literally give you the shirt off his back if he felt you needed it.

We’ll never forget the trips to 7-11 and driving his car into shopping carts at Jamesway.  My brother Frank, my Mom and I took the ride up to Belleville to attend the visitation.  It was nice to meet his family and I think it’d of meant a lot to him to knew we attended.

Saw 2 maybe 3 snakes today

While playing disc golf today in Vineland the Shepherd and I spotted two and perhaps even a third snake.  I never run into snakes, so it was kinda cool for me.

The first encounter occurred when the Shepherd went to retrieve a disc that went slightly into the brush.  Apparently the disc landed right next to the snake.  It was a pretty large snake.  We were able to retrieve the disc without bugging him too much.

The most impressive snake on the day was a big black snake that ran across the top of a hill right in front of us.  Must’ve been at least three feet long, probably longer actually.  After doing some research on snakes found in New Jersey, I’m pretty sure it was a black rat snake, but may’ve been a northern black racer.

I won a patriotic bear

Wow I just won a patriotic wooden bear.  My arm was slightly twisted into donating money towards some American Red Cross Heart Walk, and a few minutes later was notified that I had won a prize.  At first I had no idea that I was entered to win anything, but quickly ran down the steps to claim my prize.  I can’t remember winning anything recently, so I was pretty excited.

There were several weak prizes to choose from.  Mostly girly stuff, like picture frames and candle stuff.  But there was an obnoxious patriotic wooden light up bear that I knew had to be mine.  It’s awesome.  I feel so patriotic basking in the glow of it’s light right now.

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin

Days of Ruin was one of the more addictive games I’ve played in a while.  It’s a turn based military strategy game.  The series has been around for a while on the GameBoy and DS, but this was the first time I gave it a shot.

The pace of the game made it perfect for a handheld.  You could just pause a mission and resume it whenever you had time.  Very convenient for when I had to actually do important stuff.  A perfect handheld strategy game.
